It is one of the very well protected and most delightful
structures. It was built in 138 A.D by the Emperor Hadrian, who came to visit
the city from Athens in 128 A.D The exterior of the sanctuary has four
Corinthian segments supporting a bended curve, amidst which contains an
alleviation of Tyche, goddess of triumph.
Inside the sanctuary over the
entryway, a human figure, presumably Medusa remains with trimmings of acanthus
takes off. On both sides there are friezes delineating the story of the
establishment of Ephesus Androklos shooting a pig, Dionysus in formal parade
and the Amazons.
